Chapter 4

Portion of Man's Possessions in the Favors and Pleasures of Land and Ocean

Preface:
You are informed to some extent about the composition of Man's body and briefly about the basis of his creation. Hence, it is appropriate to examine some of this being's possessions. There we shall know what authorities this model with his small stature has on land, in the ocean, and over all other living creatures. We shall find out through what masteries he has kept stable his God-granted honor.

It would be appropriate to mention that the topics under each title are keys to the secrets of the things categorized and they become accessible to the reader with the help of the Almighty Great God.

There the reader, according to the development of his Nucleus of Monotheism (Hasta-e Tawheed) and the depth of his pondering, may discover more things. This is his own business. By increasing these inner explorations, certainly his light of faith appears increasingly bright.

One may write down and compile the things on which he has pondered, and hand them over to the instructors of Madrasa-e Tawheed. These instructors are the experts and experienced masters for evaluating these secrets. They would be able to determine your inner purity and luminosity of faith, with the help of Almighty God, and determine where the meter's needle points to, for your own assurance. For these epistles and books concerned with these truths are basically an undertaking of upgrading the luminosity of faith in reciters and auditors. Based on the sound guidance of the intact Qur'an of Islam and the Hadeeth, these epistles will elevate your inner ability and spiritual purity higher and higher to wherever God may will, with His help, from commonplace and mysterious things.

Ponder now on a brief discussion on some of Man's possessions.

1. Have you reflected? Man is the rocket released from the Sacred World and he is the vicegerent of Exalted God on the face of earth. Therefore, everything belonging to this globe and its surroundings is, or will be, to some possible extent, within the access of Man, provided he makes the effort to achieve it.

2. Have you reflected? It is only Man who consumes all kinds of terrestrial and marine fruits and grains in cooked or raw forms. Therefrom he makes his livelihood and promotes his living. This wealth has been given with all these qualities to no other existent, because Exalted God has called Man His vicegerent, and He has crowned him with -

"And surely We have honored the children of Adam …"

Therefore all honors are set aside for us, so that we may give oral and practical thanksgiving to Exalted Him.

3. Have you reflected? That most domestic animals consume grasses and things useless and not profitable to Man such as oil cake, herbs, skins from fruits and so on for the purpose of improving Man's life. In return, with the Glorious God's permission and in accordance to His especial Wisdom, animals give us things more profitable than what they had consumed, such as milk, yogurt, oil, cheese, and all that. They offer as well in themselves a source of tasty meat, which we can use and consume whenever we want.

4. Have you reflected? That most birds prepare their tasty meat by God's Command, out of the poured and scattered grains. They make themselves accessible to our use in necessary occasions in various kinds. Chickens even produce therefrom energetic and nutritious eggs for Man.

How Great ('Azeem) and Generous (Kareem) is Glorious God.

5. Have you reflected? That among all terrestrial and marine living creatures, this two-footed creature by the name of Man (Insaan) is the one who can gratify his sensual instincts at any time and in every season. He can do so even at the time of a female's pregnancy. In all other creatures, however, the fulfillment of this action takes place at a certain time in a specific season and period, once or twice, for the sperm to be put in the womb, and that is all.

6. Have you reflected? Differently most male animals would not bother their females during pregnancy, nor would females submit to their males in gratification of sensual instincts during this period. The exception is with the human male and female, which is proof for the abundance of lust or intensity and gratification of this calamity in unjustified way.

7. Have you reflected? The two elements of food and clothes and their resulting lust are causing angelic purity in Man to be extinguished, especially if attained through unlawful ways. Otherwise by keeping the balance of these instincts and not reaching into extremes, Man would still not become too dark and void of the Glorious God's Light. For affection or minor love would be created in him which, if directed toward Almighty God, will quickly progress farther and farther.

8. Have you reflected? By examining these things, we should have acquired Divine knowledge and perceived the depth of the greatness of the Almighty Unique Creator. In exchange for acquaintance of the substance of the atom's nucleus and the Might of the Able Who gave this potential to this particle and granted to Man's exploring brain the ability of benefiting out of and organizing it, we should have made beneficial uses out of it but, unfortunately, we did not.

9. Have you reflected? Since human beings have generally become the followers of the ego nafs, then Satan has taken advantage of this opportunity.

First: Satan, reasoning fallaciously, obscures Man by misinterpreting this enormous nuclear energy of matter as being matter's inherent potency. Thereby he has distanced Man from the Creator, Who has embedded all this energy in this tiny particle (the Atom) and taught Man the wisdom of how to use this energy.

Second: Instead of sound use, Satan has drawn Man's attention, based on egoistic desires, towards the devastation of human generation and all living creatures, and other destruction. Thereby, Satan has partitioned their life in this wide world into political prisons.

10. Have you reflected? I wish we could have been relieved of the Almighty Original Owner and Bestower of all things by having just this much responsibility, and that there were no more question, no more calling account. Pay heed that you, for your servant, or the government to its employees, are paying a salary. In return the expected work is required without any major change and violation.

Sure! The Self-Reliant Artificer (Samad us-Saana') and the Unique Exalter (Ahad ur-Raafa') is Exalted He, Who is testing us for us to determine our orientation.

11. Have you reflected? Likewise - Great God has created and granted us all these favors, rather He Almighty is continuously bestowing upon us a great part of these favors out of the earth besides all other favors of Him Almighty such as air, the sun, our healthy organs and so on. He will certainly call us to account for the way we have consumed these favors, where we got them from, and in what ways we have embezzled them.

"Then, on that day of resurrection, you will be asked concerning pleasures that were given to you."
